He used to hear that a lot when he was younger, from adults who hadn’t had a whole lot of life experience considering they were the same ones telling him later not to judge a book by its cover. Now it’s another promotion, another company and a whole new set of fans and competitors. It seems at this stage in his career, the ‘old school veteran’ is strangely comfortable with what he said, and what he plans to do in Bankok.
A somewhat contented smile is on his face as he’s relaxing in a seat on his plane ride to Thailand. He’s somewhat unfamiliar to the people travelling with him, although he is getting a few interested looks, since there’s a very basic camera crew sitting in the two seats next to him, camera poised to record action.
The sheet of paper in his hand hangs over his hand as he’s reading it, sadly it’s plain on the side facing the camera so there’s not a whole lot to tell you what he’s looking at.
“Michael, I’ll have to praise you on your education to get to where you are today. Mexico has always been a proving ground for high fliers like yourself and congratulations on going to the Orient. Obviously you’re someone who is rounded when it comes to in ring ability, I don’t think I could have asked for a better opponent in my debut match.”
Stu-E scrunches up the paper and casually tosses it on to the floor, before deciding to pick it back up and put it in his pocket.
“What I will say to you, in reply to your promo though, buddie, is that I’m no youngster. I’m actually older than you, both in age and wrestling experience. That’s why I’m walking in to Havoc to give you the wrestling match of your career. It has nothing to do with national pride and nothing about history and ancestors.
You worry about ancestors and the past while I’ll think of the present day. What’s going on right now is that I have to prove myself to you as a fair and worthy opponent. I’ve got to think about Mrs. Shevington who needs to know she can trust me to put on a hell of a match, and I’ve got to think of Senester because it’s his money that’s going in to my bank account, and something tells me he’ll be watching my match. Not to mention the fans in Thailand, who are probably watching HWA for the very first time.
When all that’s said and done then I can look to the future, and what that future might be rests solely on the events in Bangkok, for better or for worse; either way I promise you Michael that you’re stepping in to the ring with someone very, very different to what you’re used to, and I wish you all the best.”
As the stewardess approaches the seat of ‘England’s Favourite Wrestler’ he glances at the camera, picks up his drink and tips it and winks as the promo cuts out.
