“Healing times take a hell of a lot longer when you’ve been away from the ring, it makes matters worse when you’ve got to fly half way around the World just for the next show.”
The view is now from outside the plane as it begins it’s run a long the run way as the voice of ‘England’s Favourite Wrestler’ acts as a narration.
“But Thailand has been very good, the first time I’d wrestled there and I gave them a hell of a match. We as a company can only hope to show the fans what a wrestling company should be like, and hopefully we opened a lot of eyes and directed their attention on our beloved sport and business.”
The plane is garnering speed as it gets closer and closer to the end of the runway.
“Michael Kosh gave me a great fight, one that he can be very proud of. I learned a lot about him between those ropes, and I can’t wait to see him in Gothenburg just to say thanks.”
The end of the runway is long gone now as it’s pulling up in to the air, the roaring jet engines doing their work.
“Next in line is FXS and Butch Parker, two drastically different opponents yet one very intriguing match up for my second match in.”
Boeing 747 Flight 972 fades in to the clouds, as it does we’re taken back inside as a brunette air stewardess is pouring Stu-E a double Glenfiddich over ice.
“FXS, I’d like to say I knew pretty much the same as everybody else knows about him, but I don’t. I know even less of the guy. Sure I’ve seen him on the shows and noticed his antics, but I’ve not seen him outside of ‘work’ away from the squared circle. But it should be fun, another fresh opponent can only be a good thing, especially at this stage of my career. “
He grabs his drink, shakes the glass a little, then takes a drink, before just simply looking at the drink as he thinks.
“And then there’s Butch Parker, a guy who deserves all the credit and accolades sent his way. I for one don’t know how he’s managing to cope with all the bullshit surrounding him, if it was me... Well, that’s not for me to say. It’s his own personal business he has to deal with and it’s a damn shame for the wrestling fans watching knowing he’s probably not going to be at 100%.
This might sound unusual but when he is in the ring with myself, I hope that, if only for a few brief moments, he can relax and enjoy the wrestling business. In times of trouble and strife sometimes to stop yourself going crazy you need those precious breaks in concentration, a quick change of mental direction.”
Stu-E takes another small sip of whisky, gently shaking the glass afterwards, inhaling the scent as his narration continues.
“Bryan... It’s been a while since I was in the ring with him as a tag team partner. Vaguely I remember us being known as ‘The Business’, a little concept that I came up with; I was the happy go lucky veteran willing to help anybody, just wanting to give back to this wrestling business that’s given me so much while Deas was like the younger guy who was working his ass off to make a name for himself regardless of the disrespect handed down to him by selfish, egotistical bastards super glued in to their spots via their stroking of the Boss’ ego.
We never did have a long run with it, I think I probably left the promotion, so it’s going to be pretty awesome for us to go back to those days and maybe have some fun with it. Sweden might just see some brand new tricks coming out of this old dog in celebration... we’ll see what happens.”
As the narration reaches its end, Stu-E pulls down the shelf from the back of the seat to rest his whisky on as relaxes back in his seat and shuts his eyes to sleep as the video feed fades out.
