Several Hours later…
The house is full of photographers and equipment and Wisdom is on the phone with Butch who is in route, but stuck in traffic…
(Wisdom): ….no….no…it’s alright babe, don’t even rush. They can start with my solo shots, take yours when you get here and then the family shots…they’re on our time so they have to be flexible……………..No, I want us to both do it, it won’t seem right announcing her to the world if you’re not with me……..I know it’s not video, but still…….Yeah I checked this morning, there’s nothing new same bullshit from your two favorite people. They’ll probably post the card tonight or something…… I’m sure you do, and so do I………….okay babe….see ya soon.
Wisdom hangs up and heads back into the living room where she is greeted by the People Magazine Editor in charge of the article and photo shoot.
(Vivian Pool): Wisdom sweetie, where are we at, what are we doing, what’s going on?
Wisdom, absolutely hated the “Hollywood” types. The fast talking, the must make physical contact with you, the double-cheek kiss, the excessive hair flipping, the goddamn names like “sweetie, and darling,” the pretense that everyone is your fuking friend, the Starbucks cups carried around like IV bags…type people. She smiled through it, and explained that Butch was delayed and how they should proceed.
(Vivian Pool): Let’s get you set up then darling, we can get your solo interview questions in, and when Mr. Parker arrives both his and then the questions we have for you both.
Wisdom rolls her eyes once Vivian’s back is turned and heads to the seating area they’ve setup outside on the patio with a gorgeous view of the ocean as a backdrop. A few minutes pass by and everyone is in place. Vivian has some young girl, who looks like a fuking intern with a pad and paper that she sits down in front of Wisdom to ask questions. You can tell the girl is nervous and Wisdom’s strong presence does nothing to put her at ease, although she recognizes that this is likely the girls first assignment and tries to lighten her demeanor.
(Intern): Okay Mrs. Parker I guess we’ll get started if that’s alright with you. My name is Jenna and the magazine has prepared a few questions for you and your husband that I’ll go over. Just take your time answering, and if there is anything you do not wish to answer of course we’ll just leave it out altogether.
(Wisdom): Wisdom…you can all me Wisdom if you like.
(Intern): Alright…first question. Having been out of the wrestling business for over a year now, specifically the ring itself, how has that changed your life?
(Wisdom): Butch and I had retired together, everyone already knows the details of how and why he’s back…so all that being said….it was never the plan for me to be home alone. I miss him terribly when he’s away. We have built such a wonderful life, started building our family, but with him away as much as he is…it does leave me rather bored at times.
(Intern): We understand that you’ve been contacted by Dana White with an offer to get into MMA, can you tell us about that?
(Wisdom): Yes, Dana and I have had a few conversation, but that is all I can say about that at the moment.
(Intern): Would it be fair to say you have aspirations to get back to work in some way?
(Wisdom): I’m a very physical woman, being active in the ring, in the octagon, anywhere there is a high level of physicality is just an itch I need to scratch. Butch and I trained regularly during our retirement and still do which is why he was able to jump right back in never having missed a step. As far as my future goes…I don’t know. We have a daughter now, and her needs come before mine.
(Intern): Do you still keep up with HWA programming overall, or do you just keep pace with your husband’s activities?
(Wisdom): Butch is HWA programming, so it would be difficult not to watch everything.
(Intern): Let’s talk about your daughter for a moment. Dozens of other celebrities have given their children unusual names “Blue Ivy” for example, some are the very first to take to social media to introduce their children to the world but you and your husband never did any of this. Can you explain that?
(Wisdom): It’s simple. Butch and I had this discussion when we first became pregnant. His life and my life have been and are in the spotlight as “celebrities” although he’s a much bigger one than I am, but that’s our life not our daughters. Too many parents throw their kids into the same industry as them, some see that as natural but I don’t think that just because Will Smith is an actor and musician that his kids should be. We didn’t want to impose on our daughter like that. Mom and dad are athletes, it doesn’t mean she has to be, or even that we want her to be, and the media has a tendency to perpetuate things and exploit children…so we simply avoid all that.
(Intern): It took you both a while to accept our offer, what made you finally do it?
(Wisdom): The fans. We felt that there is such a substantial fan-base out there that the fans would feel slighted if we didn’t at least say “hey, here’s our little girl and we’re proud parents.” We just didn’t want to do it right away, with cameras in the fuking hospital taking snapshots seconds after she was born. We wanted some time to simply be her parents.
(Intern): Tell us about your marriage now, you and Butch have had many ups and downs over the years. How have things changed over the years to where you are now.
(Wisdom): Butch is the most amazing man on the face of this earth, and if you looked any further you could say the whole universe. When we first started dating I didn’t expect it to last. He was such a gentlemen, so incredibly sexy, the way he walked, his accent that drives me wild, the way he smells, the captivating green of his eyes. When he held you with those big hands, I literally melted. I remember our second or third date…we were still on the road touring with HWA and he dropped me off back at my hotel room. He kissed me goodnight and went on his way, and I sat there on the bed literally crying. I don’t even remember the last time I had ever cried. I think I thought that I was so rough around the edges, so outspoken, so aggressive in my ways that sooner rather than later he would simply give up. You can’t change who a person is, they are who they are…but he didn’t want to change me. He wanted to understand me, and I’ll be the first to admit it wasn’t easy…I am one headstrong girl but he stuck with me through a lot of things.
(Intern): You’ve had many ups and downs together the sexual assault by Michael Dredge who also killed your owl, a little jealousy or three’s a crowd syndrome with former HWA Diva ICE who had her own interest in Butch, and with Blush who was always his friend as well. There was your time with Dante’s Inferno etc. How did your relationship survive these events?
(Wisdom): It didn’t. Butch and I had separated a few times over the years but we always came back to one another soon after. I said that he didn’t want to change me, but a lot of that was me wanting to change him. It took me a long time to realize that, and once I did I everything started falling into place. I think a lot of times I wanted him to react the same way that I reacted to things, and that simply isn’t his nature. It doesn’t take much to get me heated, but it’s not the same with him. Some people see that as a weakness but it’s one of his greatest strengths.
(Intern): Let’s talk about some of those people. Lately it’s been Michael James who seems to be targeting Butch with his remarks, and you yourself have jumped into the war or words so-to-speak with him.
(Wisdom): Ugh Michael James. He offends me simply because he comes along and starts talking trash about my husband and he’s as green as the shit of our daughter’s dirty diaper. He hasn’t earned the right…let me say that again…he has not “earned” the right to judge Butch. He’s looking for a cheap bit of spotlight, and a quick ride to the top, and he thinks he’s superior to everyone based on past accolades. Like Butch once said before, lets see him talk his shit to Senester and find out what happens to his ass. He’ll be knocked so far down he’ll be counting the kernels of popcorn fans leave on the arena floor for a solid year straight. He needs to be put in his place and if he keeps poking around the lions cage he will be.
(Intern): Are you saying your husband is going to lay the smackdown on him?
(Wisdom): I didn’t say that. It could be anyone. Butch has no real interest in him. They may never meet in the ring for all he cares, he’s beneath him. I’m just saying that sooner of later someone is going to take him down a notch or two, and maybe then he’ll show some humility and some respect to this business and his peers.
The questions continue for a while longer, you never know what they are going to use and how they will put the final piece together from the pool of questions they have, but it goes pleasantly enough. During the process Wisdom thinks back to one of the first questions about her future plans. The more she thinks about it, the more that itch twitches. The women’s division in HWA is long dead, she thinks that maybe there is some way she could work out doing some MMA since it is a far more irregular schedule than being on the road wrestling, but then the baby starts crying in the room and she’s snapped back from her being Wisdom, and quickly becomes mommy once again and the itch fades. She excuses herself from the interview to attend to her daughter as the scene fades to black.
