"Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword. Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished." (Isaiah 13:15-16)
It’s been a few days since HWA programming returned to the homes of billions across the world. There were a few unexpected surprises at Havoc. The return of Butch Parker not being the least of them by far, but more pressing on his mind was what occurred after Havoc. To quell the speculation brewing in the media Senester has scheduled a love broadcast from Dark Horse Towers where in just a few moments he will be making an address. As was Havoc this will be a moment of vindication. For the last six months the media has degraded the name of the Hardcore Wrestling Alliance.
(Senester): Hello world, and welcome to the first broadcast from Dark Horse Communications. For months every media outlet around the globe has chronicled the status of the Hardcore Wrestling Alliance. From CNN, to local city network affiliates, to every newsstand magazine…each one of you had a predisposition about the organization that put wrestling on the map. You dared to speculate that without some of the top tier talent you were accustomed to seeing, that HWA was doomed. You sat around engaging in gossip rather than fact… determining that we would be held to the demands of media outlets and defeated by politicians. However…more importantly the HWA stood alone. Fans so apt at voicing their opinions about any and everything in a multitude of protest measures….sat silent while we fought for our existence in the broadcast world. Make no mistake…I knew the forces had aligned against us and had no intention of altering their positions, but it was only fair to give you the opportunity to make amends. You assumed that the HWA needed you, that we would bend or break to your will but you have forgotten…I am God, and it is my will that shall be done. This past Havoc aired via a special event contract, for one night only. Dark Horse Communications (DHC) is a Dark Horse subsidiary where I have launched my own global network. The HWA and its programming will air exclusively through DHC. Over the summer our DHC-1 satellites were launched and tested. Following this introductory broadcast, all future broadcasts will only be available through subscription.
Senester smiles with gratification. By now media outlets around the world are buzzing with the news that HWA has not only defied the odds, but has created their own set of rules in a sports first, by not launching just a channel or streaming service, but its own satellites to provide independent programming, services and equipment. From now on, the media and the fans would come to HWA.
(Senester): Now let us discuss the events following Havoc, specifically the subject of Michael Dredge. It pains me to confirm one of your media’s rumors. Following Havoc, while undertaking a personal assignment …Michael Dredge suffered cardiac arrest. He was soon relieved of the incompetency of public healthcare and was air-lifted here to Los Angeles where he is under the care of Dark Horse medical personnel. Undoubtedly the question of his in-ring status is at the forefront of inquiry. Until further notice Michael Dredge is…unavailable.
Senester removes his hands from his pockets and paces back and forth with his arms folded and one hand under his chin.
(Senester): Now as to the other matter…what happened at Havoc was not the return of Butch Parker. It was not the resignation of Buff Bridges. What happened was insubordination. Insubordinations lead by our Executive Director of Business Affairs, Mrs. Elizabeth Shevington who saw fit to stage a revolution of sorts. Mrs. Shevington has stepped outside the boundaries of her position and that will be rectified this coming Havoc. In addition to which a tournament for the All Star Championship will begin. Two matches will take place at Havoc, and the final championship match the week after at Road to Ruin. For each of the men competing there is more to lose than there is to win. Their matches will undoubtedly be met with great anticipation.
Then there is you Mr. Parker. Make no mistake…I told the world that there are no more heroes and Havoc proved just that. Buff Bridges didn’t even lace his boots, and just six months ago he was rambling on about his impotent child and feeling a renewed purpose. What was it you said that your son “turned your darker days around.” I’m not certain he has. I’m more certain that he’ll have to be content watching old videos of his father in his heyday than ever having opportunity to see him live. But let us return to you Mr. Parker. What clever little ruses Wisdom cooked up to play with our minds at Havoc. The knowledge that Butch Parker was home changing diapers to the little teases that he was in the arena albeit improbable. Then you burst onto the scene, deliberately attacking the World Heavyweight Champion Michael James. You’ve had thick wool pulled over the eyes of the so-called fans for over a decade Mr. Parker. They may have cheered you as a “hero” at Havoc, but you are no such thing. What you are is a sore loser who has spent the last eight months marinating in the blood, sweat and tears of your defeat. You have returned for your own self-righteous purposes and nothing more. These fans didn’t give a damn about you when you were home sulking, just like they cared less about the HWA what you do is not for them. But that’s what’s best about you Butch Parker…you make them think they care in the moment, and it makes me money…welcome home!
With that the transmission ends and on HWA programming we see the start of an in depth review of the All Star Championship, with a special guest host. Senester leaves the room where he held the brief broadcast and makes his way to the West Tower and down to Dark Horse Laboratories. As he enters all eyes turns to him. He makes his way to a side room, opens the door and enters the darkness. Inside is Michael Dredge is being scanned for another series of tests. One of the doctors sees Senester and heads over. He swallows deeply immediately tensing in a bit of fear.
(Senester): Report?
(Doctor): His condition hasn’t changed sir. We’ve done all we can, and we keep getting the same test results.
(Senester): Do more!
(Doctor): My lord, we advised you of…
Senester quickly turns his head as if hearing defiance from a child. The doctor clears his throat trying to choose his next words carefully.
(Doctor): My lord, it is only by the work in this laboratory that Michael Dredge has survived this long. Over the years his body has endured severe alcohol and drug abuse…most notably steroids that he used aggressively. He’s had serious injuries to his back and knees causing major tissue and bone damage, and that’s not to mention the psychological trauma.
(Senester): Psychological trauma?
Once more the doctor tenses up, feeling very uneasy relaying news he knows is not what Senester wants to hear.
(Doctor): My lord, we pushed too hard. We warned that he may not be able to withstand the Project TW-LS1, and we spent years on it. Cardiac arrest aside…by all accounts we are receiving no brain activity from him.
Silence passes between them as Senester looks at Dredge in the tank. He is being told that by all accounts Michael Dredge was dead. That is what his top scientist has just essentially said, but he didn’t believe him and in fact refused to.
(Senester): Doctor…you don’t tell me what is possible. I tell you what is possible. Michael Dredge is this divisions top priority and you will find a solution to this problem, or I will find a solution to your incompetence.
Another doctor comes up from the side, she looks quite hesitant to speak but does so.
(Young Doctor): My lord, we don’t have a solution at the moment, but I do have a suggestion that may give us some time….only…
(Senester): Only what?
(Young Doctor): Only it’s of significant risk. None of our other test subjects have survived more than six months.
The other doctor turns to her in cautious apprehension.
(Doctor): Are you insane? We’re talking about Michael Dredge here.
(Young Doctor): I know who we’re talking about doctor, but we’re tasked with finding a solution.
(Senester): Continue!
(Young Doctor): Well sir…it’s true that we don’t have a solution to the current situation, but we have made significant strides in our cryogenic research. Cryogenic Therapy itself is only just catching on in the sports world, but we’ve far exceed that. If we were to place him is stasis, it could award us the time we need to cure him.
Senester looks at him, puts his hand on her shoulder. He motions her to follow him walks down a long corridor to another part of the lab. He opens the door and looks inside at the canisters, then turns his head to her.
(Senester): Do it!
Senester turns and walks away as the scene fades to black.
