(Reporter): Butch, do you condone the actions of your wife in what she did to Elizabeth Shevington?
(Butch): I neither condone or condemn my wife's actions. She is her own woman and no matter what, she does what she think is right. Whether good or bad, I stand by those decisions; it's not my place to condone or condemn.
(Reporter): So are you saying it was simply a means to an end just so you could be World Champion again?
(Butch): Did I say that? No. No one feels more guilty than Wisdom right now for the state Mrs Shevington is in right now. Wisdom may have been the one to act on impulse and do what she did to ensure I got my title shot against Michael James but I'm sure you're all savvy enough to know it was Senester who instigated this. He and Michael James concocted this scheme to do whatever they thought was necessary to prevent Michael James from defending the World Championship in an environment both of them knew, Senester more so, he wasn't capable of making a successful defence in. I understand these words may ring hollow because I stand here in front of all you with the HWA World Championship belt in my possession again but I assure you I didn't want any of this to happen and I can also assure you my wife didn't either but what's done is done.
(Reporter): What was going through your wife's mind when she chose to attack a defenceless seventy-year-old woman?
(Butch): Am I bald? Do I have an English accent and move about in a wheelchair?
(Reporter): Erm, no....
(Butch): Then don't assume I'm capable of showing signs of being in possession of telepathic abilities. I don't know what was going through Wisdom's head when she chose to run down that ramp and do what she did. I can only assume she was thinking about the heinous and callous things Michael James has said and done about and to our family over the past two years and she wasn't about to let him and Senester win again.
(Reporter): Well what was going through your mind then?
(Butch): If I'm honest, I was proud. My wife is loyal and loving woman; she is a great mother and an incredible wife and there aren't a great deal of things neither of us will do for one another to ensure the other isn't left wanting. Of course we both wish this could've turned out differently; I was ready for walking away and for a moment so was Wisdom but she took the road less travelled and as I said earlier, I'll stand by her no matter what.
(Reporter): Have you spoken to Mrs Shevington's family since your match at Road to Ruin? Do they plan to take legal action if she dies from her injuries?
(Butch): Yes, there was of course a heated discussion between both parties, I'm sure you can understand they're extremely upset and worried over what happened and I cannot blame them for that; but cooler heads did prevail in the end thankfully. I also think it's a little early to be talking of such hearsay when Mrs Shevington is still alive. From what I understand she is critical but stable at the moment which we are all thankful for and I think it's in quite bad taste for you to ask what the ramifications would be should she pass. Next question.
(Reporter): Butch, what's next for you after winning the a World Championship for a fourth time? Only Buff Bridges has won the World Championship more in his time in HWA; do you have your sets elsewhere, Freddie Styles has already called you out.
(Butch): Well obviously I'm very proud of what I've achieved in my HWA career and despite the circumstances that led me to getting the match for the title, I'm still proud of the win. Michael James and I signed a contract for a Best of Three series so even if that opportunity at a Road to Ruin was denied to me, believe me, I would've gotten it somehow. Speaking of the Best of Three, Michael and I still have one more match to decide who wins the series overall and I'm sure there'll be plenty of more details on this revealed at the next airing of Havoc. As for what's for next after that, obviously a true champion not only focuses on the opponent in front of him but keeps his eyes peeled for attacks on other fronts. As World Champion, you're automatically the target for challengers gunning for a shot at you and I'm no different. Freddie had an incredible match and earned the right to be crowned All Star Champion after his match with Stu-E Price tonight. But, he is not the number one contender for the World Championship and proclaiming he wants my belt does not automatically make him a mandatory challenger. I will defend my belt against anyone and everyone who is placed opposite the ring from me but they will have to earn it first. Freddie may have earned the right to compete for the All Star Championship and then subsequently win said title but if he wants a shot at me, he's going to have climb a little bit higher up the ladder to prove he's worthy; just like everyone else.
(Reporter): Butch, you and Michael James out each other through hell again tonight in what wrestling pundits such as Dave Meltzer are already branding a five star match and a match of the year candidate. What are the extent of your injuries and do you know the extent of Michael James' injuries as well?
(Butch): I don't honestly know how good a match it was if I'm being honest. When you're in there competing, anything else apart from winning and doing your best goes out the window but nevertheless I'm honoured to have been part of what the wrestling community has seen as such an engrossing match. Right now I haven't had a chance to be properly checked out, I'm still running on adrenaline and painkillers I think. My throat is quite sore hence my scratchy voice and it wouldn't surprise me if I had a concussion. I'm sure I'll be in a lot more pain once the adrenaline and paracetamol wear off. As for Michael James' physical state I'm afraid I'm at a loss, he was taken to a different medical facility in Montreal. He was just regaining consciousness when I left the cage and I can definitively guarantee he'll be just as, if not more sore than I will be when we both wake up tomorrow morning.
(Reporter): Butch obviously you'll be feeling a lot of vindication on the back of you reclaiming the World Championship but do you take any additional satisfaction from ending Michael James' undefeated streak?
Butch involuntarily releases a snicker through exhaling through his nostrils and allows a small subtle smile to cross his face momentarily.
(Butch): Vindication in beating him only for avenging the sickening things he said and did to my family since we first started this whole shit storm. As for his precious streak, I said it on numerous occasions in my promos leading up to Road to Ruin; in the grand scheme of things, Michael James is nothing more than a flash in the pan. Like Derrick Hall, like Nightmare, Talon, Renegade, they win the World Title and notch up some impressive victories and suddenly they think the world owes them a favour and they're suddenly sitting on a pedestal they didn't even realise they were on. Michael James is a human being. He's not perfect, just like me. He can beaten and he can be broke. Now is the time we'll see what sort of man he is and how he bounces back from defeat and not just any defeat, a defeat to a man who he claimed was beneath him, who was not talented enough in the ring to get the job done, not intelligent enough to out-think him and he's going to have to live with that for the rest of his career.
(Reporter): Mr Parker, can you confirm or deny the rumours that this whole feud with Michael James stemmed from a heated love triangle? Is Wisdom an adulterer?
A look of anger and disgust crosses Butch's face upon hearing the context of the last question.
(Butch): Look I'm not sure where you got that information from, whether it was an anonymous tip or you just buying into Michael James' bullshit he spews out about Wisdom being attracted to him. None of it is true, okay? There is no love triangle or stupid soap opera shit or anything like that. If you think or assume Wisdom would even think of going near Michael James after what he's put my family through then you're even more deluded than he is. Now, I think I've answered more than enough questions, if you'll excuse me I'd quite like to spend some time with my family now.
Butch politely walks through the sea of journalists who are still peppering him with questions; their voices now an undecipherable cacophony of sound. Butch attempts to break into a light jog but the effects of the Lion's Den match are soon apparent and he lasts no longer than twenty seconds or so before he has to walk. He still manages to get away from the rabble of reporters though and is able to meet up with Wisdom where they agreed prior to Butch answering the reporters' questions. He climbs into the passenger side of the rental car and it speeds off as the scene fades to black.
