Laney, his eight-year-old daughter, was sitting in the front row, her eyes wide with excitement as she watched her dad prepare for his match. This was the first time she would see him wrestle, and Stu-E wanted to make it a memorable experience for both of them.
Stu-E had retired from wrestling shortly after HWA closed up and Laney was born, dedicating himself to being a father and raising his daughter. But the call of the ring had always been strong, and when the opportunity came to return to HWA, he couldn't resist.
He had spent months training and getting back into shape, determined to give his best performance tonight. But as he looked around at the other wrestlers backstage, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of doubt. They were all younger, faster, and stronger than he was. Could he still compete with them?
As the opening match began, Stu-E felt his nerves heighten. He watched intently as his opponent made his way to the ring, sizing him up and trying to anticipate his moves. When it was finally his turn to enter the arena, Stu-E took a deep breath and stepped out into the bright lights.
The crowd erupted into cheers as he made his way down the ramp, Laney jumping up and down with excitement. Stu-E felt a surge of adrenaline rush through him, and he knew that he was exactly where he was meant to be.
The match was intense, with both wrestlers giving it their all. Stu-E felt his body ache and his muscles strain as he grappled with his opponent, but he refused to give up. He was determined to show his daughter what he was capable of.
As the match drew to a close, Stu-E found himself struggling to get back to his feet. His opponent had landed a devastating blow, and he could feel his strength waning. But then he heard Laney's voice from the crowd.
"Come on, Daddy! You can do it!"
Stu-E felt a new surge of energy as he pushed himself up, determined to win for his daughter. With one final burst of strength, he took down his opponent and pinned him to the mat.
The crowd roared as the referee counted to three, declaring Stu-E the winner. Laney leaped over the barricade and ran into the ring, throwing her arms around her dad.
"You did it, Daddy! You're the best wrestler ever!"
Stu-E smiled, feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment that he hadn't felt in years. He knew that he still had what it took to compete, but more importantly, he had shown his daughter what it meant to follow your dreams and never give up.
I looked across her bedroom, the story had done the trick and Laney was sleeping with a smile on her face. That's all she thinks these have been, stories of how her Dad used to be like a superhero. Now HWA has came back, maybe I should just throw myself in to it and take her with me.
Maybe I'm kidding myself, maybe I'm kidding her with all of these stories because if she really looked deep enough at my career, I was far from a superhero at times. Just what might I be getting myself in to?
Time will tell, how the story goes...
