(Michelle’s Mom): …I’m just saying it would be nice if you came home more often…it’s been 9 months already. People have babies in that amount of time and we haven’t even seen you.
(Michelle): Mom, we talked about this, you know how my training schedule has been, and I was working the job at the restaurant until two months ago when we all got raises and this whole thing started taking off.
(Michelle’s Mom): Have you finished trying all the local Wards?
(Michelle): No ma’am!
(Michelle’s Mom): Well, you have to pick one honey. It’s important that you speak with God, he will guide you, you might see that this path is not for you he and he might have better plans for you.
(Michelle): I haven’t abandoned my worship momma, and I know what you and daddy think about folks here in Los Angeles, but there are some good people here too.
(Michelle’s Mom): I know there is sweetheart, it’s just that you’re there all by yourself. I just wish you connected more to the church so you’d have more like-minded friends and people to look out for you.
(Michelle): I have friend’s momma, and they aren’t from the church but you know Matt and Jeremy and Sean and Sarah have all been nice to me. They all know my beliefs and they’ve been nothing but supportive.
(Michelle’s Mom): Sarah’s the girl that slipped on that boys drink and busted her head?
(Michelle): Yes ma’am, but she wasn’t drinking and you know neither was I.
(Michelle’s Mom): I know you weren’t sweetheart, your daddy and trust you…you know that. There’s just a lot of temptations out there in the world, but if your friends are as good to you as you say then We’ll continue to pray that the lord looks over you all.
(Michelle): Did you guys see the announcement? Havoc is going to be on May 1st…I’m gonna be on tv momma! I’m excited and nervous all over again like the reunion, but this is even bigger.
(Michelle’s Mom): You don’t have anything to be nervous about. Everyone here is so excited, your brothers and sisters are putting together a watch party. Half the neighborhood is going to be coming, and the other half will still be home watching…we’re sure of that.
(Michelle): That makes me so happy, I’ll do you all proud…you wait and see. The Reunion didn’t go how I wanted it, but when Sarah and I get in that ring…we are going to tear the house down.
(Michelle’s Mom): What about the other girls, the one who missed her flight or was stuck at the airport or something?
(Michelle): Erica? She actually hasn’t started yet. Come to find out, that was the problem she had that night at the airport, something about her Visa, and she was forced to leave until she sorts it out and can come back.
(Michelle’s Mom): Where’s this girl from?
(Michelle): Mexico.
(Michelle’s Mom): Well, at least she’s going by the book, not hopping over any walls or sneaking through some tunnel like those drug cartels…terrible! What about the other’s, where are they all from?
(Michelle): All around...different places…Jeremy’s from Florida though, but Sarah was born and raised here in LA, Matt’s Irish and Sean……he’s from Scotland originally.
(Michelle’s Mom): Why did you say his name like that?
(Michelle): Like what?
(Michelle’s Mom): Like the way you said it. You paused and your voice changed, like you were smiling.
(Michelle): I didn’t pause, I just…
(Michelle’s Mom): Oh Lord in heaven, do you…do you like this boy?
(Michelle): Momma, he’s nice but we’re just friends, we work together. He took me under his wing when I started here, looked out for me.
(Michelle’s Mom): I don’t like the sound of this Michelle. These men around you all the time with their shirts off, hopped up on testosterone, this is exactly what your father and I didn't want for you. These, these…influences.
(Michelle): Momma, its not like that. You know I live the life…I’m pure, and I plan to stay that way until I get married, you know that momma.
(Michelle’s Mom): And we want you to stay that way. This is why you need to join one of the local wards, be around young men in the church who share your values.
(Michelle): I don’t need people to share my values, just respect them, and my friends do.
(Michelle’s Mom): I don’t know, I’d just feel better if we knew you were being looked after by your own. We see the people around you. That Maniac fellow with the demonic paint on his face…I see the way he looks at that reporter girl doing the interviews. She has to be around your age, and how old is he 40 something? It turns my stomach. Mark my words, he’s going to try something and if this Sean boy or one of the other ones tries anything…I want you on the first flight home, you hear me?
(Michelle): Momma Sean isn’t going to try anything, and neither is Jeremy or Matt, not everybody here is like what you see in the movies and tv shows, and Maniac…he’s eccentric and has some kind of mental issues, but other than that he’s just a general pain in Matt’s bum.
(Michelle’s Mom): I pray to god you know what you’re doing here Michelle, I really do.
(Michelle): I know momma, me too! I miss you guys so much, but this is where I need to be right now, I feel that this is where God wants me to be. I didn’t do the traditional missionary work, and I know that disappoints you and daddy, but what if this is my calling? Imagine the millions of people I can reach and influence doing my work here. I really do think that’s why I’m here.
(Michelle’s Mom): Maybe. You’ve just been exposed to so much so fast, it scares us.
(Michelle): I’m aright momma, really.
(Michelle’s Mom): I hope so sweetheart, I really hope so. I won’t keep you, I know you have to get going, but you think about what I said. At least pick one of the churches, and I understand if you can’t go every week, but at least be a part of it, your father and I are not there…whether you know it or not…you need to maintain that connection to your faith and they will help you.
(Michelle): I know momma, and I will…I promise. I love you, and I love daddy.
(Michelle’s Mom): We love you too baby, bye.
(Michelle): Bye momma.
Michelle hangs up the phone and leans back laying on the floor. The day was moving along and she still needed to go and get some groceries. She planned to make some Pesto Zoodles for dinner, and maybe treat herself to some ice cream for dessert. But first she would keep her promise to her parents, she had already scoped out a few of the local churches and one was pretty close to where the new headquarters would be. She’d swing by there and join, get her shopping done and relax the rest of the day. The next week was going to be busy getting ready for Havoc. Her travel information arrived yesterday and there was some PR they had to do, and she still had to run through things with Sarah…they indeed planned to tear the house down like she told her mom, and she was so happy her family would be watching.
The scene fades to black.
