A Personal Meet-and-Greet
She didn’t catch it live, but she had just finished watching Sean’s livestream for the day before. She felt so inferior to the way he handled the fans and their questions, she didn’t think she was ready for something like that and she didn’t have too much video game experience anyway. She grew up not being allowed to play the really popular games that a lot of other kids played. Her parents scrutinized ratings and hand-picked more “wholesome” selections for her and her siblings to play. She got to enjoy things like Animal Crossing and Mario Kart. Her parents didn’t even let her play Pokemon. They didn’t like the idea of human beings summoning creatures. It didn’t matter how innocent it was, it was demonic to them. She bet Sean had played just about everything. Speaking of Sean, she looked at the clock and realized that he had probably just text finishing his Meet and Greet. She kept staring at the message as if she were trying to finish a word search puzzle. She thought…Why had God placed this man in her path? What is his message? What should she do? What was wrong with her? This is what she wanted, this was the very reason she left Salt Lake…to see the world, to meet new people, and maybe even find romance. To be a person of faith, but not be beholden to strict doctrines that made her feel…limited. She was trying to work up the courage to say what she really wanted to say to him. He had worn his heart on his sleeve for her, it was only fair she do the same. In a week they’d be in Chicago, and she didn’t want to not have said anything by then and things be awkward between them at Havoc. She wanted to feel comfortable, and if he meant what he said and just wanted to spend time with her, then she had an idea. Of course, she was still a bit chicken and couldn’t muster the courage to tell him directly so she decided to text him, as he had her. She looked at the message for a moment, and before she allowed any doubt to set in, she pressed send. (Michelle): …well that’s that then. She felt a sense of relief. A giddiness overcame her thinking about him. Sarah would be proud of her. She had to call her and tell her, maybe she could help her figure out what to wear and what to eat. She dials her number and she answers on the second ring. (Sarah): Hey Girl, wassup? (Michelle): Guess what? Michelle begins to explain her text to Sean as the scene fades to black.
