It’s a peaceful morning in this part of LA, many residents not yet stirring or if they are, it’s not on the streets at any rate.
Hans comes into view, out for a jog.
He’d been up early to watch the Singapore GP, thoroughly enjoying the race for the first time in what felt forever this season. A spring is in his step as it were, as the energy from that translates into his effort on the pavement.
He catches sight of the camera, doing a double take to make sure it’s a HWA team and not any other site.
Coming to a halt in front, he nods at the crew behind the lens.
(Hans): You guys…
He smiles, before taking a slug from the water bottle held in his hand.
(Hans): Nun, warum nicht, ich habe Jesse…
Another gesture at the camera crew, and he gets the countdown from off screen.
(Hans): Jesse, gut, I’m glad you’re ready to step into the squared circle with myself. You have the self belief and confidence in yourself to take me on, jah? Sehr gut.
A slug of the water passes his lips, perspiration on his brow from both the jog and the rising temperature.
(Hans): This is your chance, I expect you to grasp it. I’d be disappointed if you didn’t in truth. You have a unique upbringing, jah. You trained with your father and associates. You trained with your family. You’ve come to the Academy in the last two months, had the opportunity to learn from us and shape what you already know.
One hand on his hip, he takes another slug of water, nodding at the camera as the bottle drops down.
(Hans): No doubt, sie sind ein force to deal with.
Fitting the cap onto the water bottle for a second, he composes himself and his thoughts.
(Hans): We haven’t of course taught you everything. Simply down to not having had the time. That works both ways though, it means that you’re not as known to me as I’d like unt I can’t go through the archives and look at tape on you to get a… to get a ‘real’ sense of you.
He finds himself shrugging the shoulders slightly at this.
(Hans): But by the same token, you don’t know everything I can bring. Jah, you’ll see how I was against your father unt you’ll have similarities, but more with myself than Herr Draconis I wager. Your weight and height, we match up well. Very different headspace to get into.
Staring into the camera as he carries on, Hans unscrews the bottle lid.
(Hans): So, Jesse, this week, crunch time. This is the big stage, die große chance… you only have to worry about what happens in the ring. You know I don’t pull tricks like Herr Chaos. Give me your best.
Tilting his head at the camera, he drains the last of his water, before moving off back on his run as the scene fades to black.
