(Jeremy): Figured we might as well get a little something in while we wait eh?
(Sean): Aye!
(Matt): Alright by me, so it is! Draconis Family then…Havoc?
(Sean): What else. Guys…this is the first time we’ve teamed together for a Havoc audience. You realize it’s been over a year since even the Youtube crowd has seen us in the ring together.
(Jeremy): Who was it last time? Wasn’t it that Henry or Harry something brothers and what was that other guys name they got stuck with…the one who wouldn’t shave his armpits?
(Matt): Harris Brothers…they gave us a good one…but Chester Crane, that Muppet!
Sean and Jeremy laugh remember encounters of not so long ago.
(Sean): Chester, that’s right…for a guy who couldn’t cut the mustard, he sure knew how to cut the cheese.
(Jeremy): God yeah he did!
Sean smiled inside. Looking at Matt, having pulled his chair up behind Jeremy’s and wrapped his arms over his shoulders. He was glad they had found something special together. With the holidays coming, maybe a double-date with he and Michelle would be nice. They’d been talking about getting together for a while, but with all their schedules and things it just hadn’t happened yet.
(Matt): So, let’s do this yeah…The Draconis Family then?
Sean and Jeremy nod and they start a live recording. The sound proof room only ever so faintly picking up the clink and clank of exercise equipment and thumps of bodies hitting the canvas not far outside the doors. The trio have their game faces on as they look into the camera.
(Matt): Jesse, Kratos, and William….6-Man Tag Match at Havoc…it’s the three of you against the three of us, and I’ll no lie…it’s going to be a banger, but lads…yer gonna have to ask Santa for something else for Christmas cause you not getting a win.
(Jeremy): I guess by now boys, they know a lot about each of us over the past 9 months, but I’m guessing you weren’t tuning to Youtube the last few years so you don’t know anything about us together, as a team. We’re no strangers to 6-Man Tag Matches, in fact…we’ve had more than I can remember and we’ve never been beat.
(Sean): You see…that’s what you’re getting at Havoc. This machine right here.
Sean waves his forefinger around between Matt, Jeremy and himself for emphasis.
(Sean): You’re looking at the engine that ran HWA these past years, and from Maniac, to Fallen, Stu-E, Deas…yourself William, and everyone else in-between we’re tuned up.
(Matt): Jesse, Kratos, fellas…we know what its like to have a bunch of guys whose been around longer than you who can’t shut their gob about being a bloody veteran and demanding respect. That’s not us, I watched you earn your place, and if you didn’t have our respect I wouldn’t have ever voted in your favor for you to get called up.
(Jeremy): You can I William took a different path, but I’d like to think that we have a degree of respect for one another now, which is why I’m looking forward to this match. It’s another opportunity for me to see a different side you and you of me. I may not have been having as consistently stellar outings as these two, but I’ll tell you this…at Havoc I’m in my element. I’m surrounded by guys I know like the back of my hand…we’re field and battle tested and as good as you are, and as enthusiastic as the Sons of Anarchy may be…it won’t be enough.
Sean chuckles a little shaking his head.
(Sean): It feels weird saying that out loud… “Sons of Anarchy!” I wasn’t even out of high school when that name meant something different…and come to think of if, I don’t think we know yet what it means today, other than a legacy.
Matt and Jeremy are both shaking their heads, really not having much of an idea what the new Sons of Anarchy is all about.
(Matt): That’s the beauty of this business William, isn’t it fella. You pass down a legacy to your family and the name stays the same, but Jesse and Kratos you get to redefine it in this new era, so you do.
(Jeremy): Don’t come to Havoc thinking that we’re discounting you, we spent this entire year getting called “Newbies” and “New Breed” and “New Blood” and look where its gotten our opponents. We know exactly what it’s like to be new faces, but not new to the game. We know you’ve trained for a long time and together, we know you’re skilled and capable guys, and we can’t discredit that.
(Sean): I’m really looking forward to this. This is the kind of match that makes HWA exactly what my aunt and uncle have endeavored for it to be. And don’t worry, this is going down clean as it should…if Fallen even thinks of showing his face I’ll probably get to him before any of you do. I promise you that!
(Matt): There’s a reason some call me the King, the Flagbearer, Lockeroom Leader and that…I lived through the HWA famine. A man can survive without food, but not without water, and there’s no denying the three of us have given HWA life, so we have. You look at yourselves and you’re telling yourself you know each other inside and out too like Jer just said of us.
Matt was the first knock at the door when HWA closed in 2015, he had seen them all come and go since, he was the foundation that built upon but never took on the claim of being all those things people labeled him as, he didn’t carry that kind of conceit as far as titles, but he was confident in his beliefs, his drive and will to bring everything and everyone up alongside him.
(Jeremy): So, at Havoc we’ll just have to show you that blood isn’t always thicker than water!
They end the live feed and power down the equipment.
(Jeremy): I think we got the message across well enough.
(Sean): Oh aye, and I can’t wait…this is going to be the most fun I’ve had since we tore it up Jer.
(Matt): Come on now, you know you loved flattening Fallen with that 40ft stunt off the bloody cage. Now that was fun!
Sean smiles and laughs.
(Jeremy): And you certainly had fun way before that leaving a certain veteran laid out in the bathroom at Madison Square Garden.
(Sean): Hey, no fair…that’s below the belt!
Matt, Sean and Jeremy all laugh together, and as it dies down a silence takes shape and they just stare back at one another.
(Jeremy): Our first time together in way over a year and look at us, so much has changed.
Jeremy thinks back to when he first walked into the doors of the old Academy. The stale gym stench in the air and the first people he saw were Matt and Sean. He couldn’t have known then that he’d soon find a brother in Sean, and beyond his wildest dreams a lover in Matt. It was job that paid well enough using his physical fitness to its advantage, but became so much more. Jeremy takes Matt’s hand and he squeezes it back. Sean thought of Michelle, their relationship, her win at Havoc harkening back to his own early beginnings.
(Sean): We’ve all grown…evolved. Each of us has been pushed to our limits and we’ve pushed back.
(Matt): Aye, damn right. Look at us, from facing split personality psychos, to world class athletes, to fuking deviant perverts…it’s been a year. I can’t think of a better way to end it for us than together where we started.
(Jeremy): No letting up now boys, we’re just getting into the thick of things. Like sensei always said, “There’s always someone nipping at your heels!”
(Matt): So he did!
Sean, Jeremy, and Matt leave the studio room and head back out to the training floor where the ring has emptied. Red Dragon is still inside and waves them on with a smile as the scene fades to black.
