I see the love and the fear of God as two sides of the same coin. In Job God commends Job because he fears God and Shuns evil(Bad works) nearly exactly what Solomon is talking about in Eccl.
In Job1:8 Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil."
In acts the Early Church lived in teh fear of the Lord.
Acts 9:31 Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace. It was strengthened; and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it grew in numbers, living in the fear of the Lord.
IN Revelation 19:5 we see all the servants of God fear Him:
Then a voice came from the throne, saying:
"Praise our God,
all you his servants,
you who fear him,
both small and great!"
Acts 10 Cornelius was singled out by God due to his fear of God, generosity and prayer.
1At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion in what was known as the Italian Regiment. 2He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly.
There are many more references but let us go from here. I think you must have both love and fear. Fear brings reliable obedience. Kind of like proofing your dog in training. You teach him behavior with positive methods and proof him with corrections.
