I am not in any way shape or form saying it is the totality of one’s relationship to God!!!
In the early first century they taught the combination of Piety and Righteousness, as did Jesus. To the 1st Century Jews;
Piety was how one dealt with their relationship to God. This is a combination of Love and Reverence So we see Piety is Love, fear, respect and affection. Definition of Piety below.
Then Righteousness was understood as how we treated our fellow man. This is seen in both the 10 commandments and the two most important commandments according to Jesus.
Consider how our relationship with a real Father figure should be you should love, respect and fear transgressing your Earthly Father’s commandments. A relationship between Father and Son is directly linked to how obedient the son is to the Father. When the Son disobeys the Father, Daddy gets mad, Son receives punishment. Son soon learns to fear making Daddy mad, but he still loves his daddy.
In the 10 commandments the commandment to “Honor your Father and Mother is the crossover commandment” from Piety to Righteousness. More on that later I have to get ready for work.

Piety
PI'ETY, n. [L. pietas, from pius, or its root, probably a contracted word.]
Piety in principle, is a compound of veneration or reverence of the Supreme Being and love of his character, or veneration accompanied with love; and piety in practice, is
the exercise of these affections in obedience to his will and devotion to his service.
