I think all organized religions become controlling organizations and I do not really think that is a bad thing at least for the most part. Think about how people act when they have no religious or government control. I do have a few theological differences with the JW especially their prophetic interpretations.
I have studied intensely for over a decade and no longer attend a church due to Theological reasons. I seriously miss the fellowship, but have come to learn that few Christians or Ministers are actually interested in the truth but rather are looking for a religion that "meets their needs" or one that "makes them feel good".
When I began my studies I simply wanted "The religion of Jesus" now I firmly believe the religion of Jesus was a sect of Judaism that is no longer around.
