I wouldn't celebrate to much Mark since Owens will be voted out in 2010.The republican candidate was more liberal than Owens,as a result there was chaos very close to election day.
I see this as a short term loss, but a long term gain. The GOP hierarchy will understand that we must nominate a true conservative from the start, so that we won't have the 3rd party fiasco we had so close to election day.
It also must be noted that Doug Hoffman had no political experience and lacked charisma,as well as being a very strange looking guy.
In 2010 the GOP will nominate a more polished and experienced candidate.Sarah Palin elevated Hoffman from a distant third to a close second in just a few weeks. The country is moving right and Owens will be out next November.
