The repeated incidents with Alex don't really bother us at all. We're kind of used to them, and we talk to the guy on a semi-regular basis and he's a good person. And the alleged crack smokers don't bother us at all because they keep to themselves.

The neighbor that bothers us is the daughter of the mother who was killed in the fire. When she pounded on our door asking for help saying her condo was on fire and her mother was trapped upstairs she seemed plenty freaked out. But then when my wife and I went over there and couldn't save her mother after we couldn't get upstairs because we were driven back by the smoke she didn't seem as upset as I guess we would have been if it had been one of our parents. But my wife and I reconciled it in our minds that maybe she went into shock after they couldn't revive her mother on the front lawn after the firemen rescued her. On the other hand, we got to thinking days after we spoke with the detective who investigated the possibility that the daughter somehow set the fire intentionally (a notion my wife and I both said was impossible) that maybe she did do it on purpose. It's too late now and of course we'll never know unless she somehow magically confesses, but out of the odd neighbors I've described that we have she's the one that bothers us most. Not enough to move out though, and especially not to the sticks because that couldn't work for us since my wife can't drive.
