Coach Weldon,
I’ve read everything I can get my hands on when it pertains to boxing. There is not a wealth of what I consider to be good instructional books out there. One of my favorites is “Championship Fighting Explosive Punching and Aggressive Defense by Jack Dempsey.” It is no longer in print; however you can obtain a PDF copy over the internet.
I happened upon you through YouTube and was very impressed. I was so impressed that I bought all four of your training DVD’s “You Can Learn to Box.” They’re great! I plan on purchasing the “Advanced Boxing Technique” series of DVD’s.
The “Rack” is a stroke of genius! I now have one in my garage. I use to jab with too much weight on my front foot. That’s how I learned/read it was done. The rack caused my right foot to pop up in the air when I jabbed in an unbalanced position. It revealed a lot of flaws in my technique.
I was practicing the evaluation line in the gym, and one of the quote un quote “coaches” wanted to know if I was learning how to dance. He said it in a mocking fashion. I wonder if he ever heard of Sugar Ray Robinson. Now I’m going to practice it twice as much!
Thanks,
Paul
