Randall, trachies are fun to grow from seed. I just started some waggies myself. In my opinion, waggies are the BEST trachycarpus to grow. Now given that, I am growing a lot of regular T. fortunei from seed as well.
I'm not getting hung up and obsessed over the new trachy species. I'll wait and let it all get sorted out before I jump on the bandwagon. I will purchase small plants of these new ecotypes (if I want to try them out later) rather than wasting money on seed that I don't know if it's reliable or the real thing.
Here was my last inventory check in October:
24 T. fortunei (one gallons)
40 T. fortunei (10 inch deep x 2 inch large plugs)
30 T. fortunei (quart pots)
40 S. louisiana 'OKC' (deep plugs)
10 S. palmetto (deep plugs)
6 T. nanus (plugs)
20 S. minor 'Warren, AR' (deep plugs)
4 T. wagnerianus (one gallons)
5 W. filifera (3 gallon)
4 W. filibusta (1 gallon)
