Posted by Austin, Little Rock on 2/7/2008, 8:55 pm70.232.54.193 What better to do in the winter time than reminisce about warmer weather and what happened last year? Amazing lasiocarpa. I got seeds from these flowers that I hand pollinated! My basjoos awarded my efforts with 2 blooms and small immature bananas right before frost hit. 4 yr old clump. What do the bananas look like in the spring? Well, they are this high by April!!! Everyone has to LOVE basjoo! Now, onto some palms. My only butia has beautiful gray-green leaves. How about a nice trachy? This one grows really fast...almost two feet of trunk last year. Waggies! I love the form of these leaves. This is the 3rd season for my Robusta. All I do is cover it with a tarp each winter to keep it dry. It started with zero fronds in the spring. Wow, the 2007 growing season was wonderful here in the Arkansas River Valley!
