The needle palm is THE best cold hardy palms you can grow. Why? Well, I'm glad you asked. 
Here are some great reasons why you should grow the needle palm.
1. It provides a tropical effect with a bushy palm.
2. The needle palm produces suckers/offsets. If the main plant dies, suckers typically replace it.
3. Suckers can be used to propagate new plants.
4. It is a large shrubby palm and covers a nice area.
5. The needle can grow in either full sun or shade.
6. It is the most cold hardy palm.
7. Needle palms have nice glossy green leaves.
8. Needle palms form a small trunk over time.
9. They are easy to transplant.
10. They are endangered in their native habitat. (This may be the best reason to grow them!)
