Finding native palms for the first time is an exciting and exhilarating experience but can be very frustrating as well. Minors seem to be hard to find sometimes while other times are very easy to spot. I've often mistaken the wild yucca for a sabal minor at a distance so it's no wonder that we can get false reports of wild minors by inexperienced plant "explorers". Here are some pics of our state's native palm at 33.43 degrees North latitude. Enjoy!
Palms right along the highway. The first native minors that I came across on my 2004 expedition.
Minors grow among hardwoods but some also grow happily among pines.
A beautiful specimen. Not as blue as some of the others.
