Well, that's not quite true.
When Hoffman had the height record way back when, it was 14 feet above coping. The next best guy was something like 11 feet and some odd inches, I think. Then Hoffman took it up to 23 feet in short order. So it's not quite double. Later he took it to 26 feet.
