The video is pretty incredible and shows the extent of his preparation for the stunt, but I was wondering what is the section of "platform" that is on the opposite side of his elevated landing area? It doesn't look as though it's usable for anything to do with actual practice jumps, but it looks like the platform is twice (or more) the depth of his landing area and there's a "bump" in the middle of it. What would this be used for?
P.S. In the video it looks he's not gonna have much problem making the height (especially in the last clip of video before the end), but may be going a bit too high and/or going too "deep" onto the landing platform. There's substantial padding at the end of the platform but going too fast could slam him into it upon landing or (with too high a drop onto the platform) possibly bounce him over it. If he lands both ends of this jump cleanly it will be way more impressive than last year and will have to make you wonder what could someone come up with next to top it!

: Just saw this short video on an ESPN website.
: Nice to see how well calculated and
: engineered this whole jump is (for sure,
: lots of money involved!).
:
: However, no matter how rehearsed this stunt
: is, still an extremely dangerous jump. As
: if you didn't know already, Maddo has got
: serious balls!
