One more thing! Why are most places that I'm seeing report on this stunt saying that Robbie is going to go 120' to land on top of the 96' Arc? It seems that he would want to minimize the impact of the landing by going only 10'-15' (or less if safely possible)above the landing surface instead of 25'-30'. Is there something missing that they're not telling us?

: With the limited amount of
: "practice" video that has been
: released up to this point, it looks like
: "Maddo" has the "up"
: part pretty well "locked in" and
: the real challenge will be the
: "drop" down.
: With the "overhead" shot of the
: Arc that JA has posted and seeing Maddos'
: practice setup it almost seems to guarantee
: that the landing platform on top of the Arc
: will be level with the "lip" or
: wall that surrounds the top of the Arc.
: There's probably a 3 or 4 foot high wall
: around the top of the Arc which probably
: wouldn't be a "bad" thing for the
: "up" and landing part, but given
: the drop between the top and the beginning
: of the landing ramp, plus the steep angle of
: the landing ramp (meaning there's very
: little horizontal room for error - better
: not go "long" or the impact
: becomes greater the farther he falls without
: touching ramp) one would think that he
: doesn't want to have to "travel"
: up that far (and therfore out/forward)
: before getting the bike adjusted downward
: for what will be a quick and steep landing.
: Since there hasn't been any video of him
: "practicing" the "drop",
: I'm gonna guess that he's going straight off
: or has a small "bump" of a ramp
: that will allow him to adjust quickly before
: dropping too far. Either way, I think the
: "down" part of the stunt is going
: to be way more intense than the
: "up"!
:
: P.S. It is hard to tell whether the
: nervousness that you can hear in Maddo's
: voice when he is talking about the stunt
: being "scary" (he mentioned that
: they finished with a deck height of 83 feet
: - what happened to the other 13 feet? - Arc
: de Triomph = 96ft right?) is more
: "hype" or actual reservation about
: being able to pull the stunt off.

: OH YEAH! What AWESOME FOOTAGE, what an
: AWESOME
: LOOKING JUMP! Excellent work, Maddo! Our
: hats are off to you for stepping WAAAAY up!
:
: The practice jumps will probably look
: crazier than the real jump, because
: everything is just air all around, and
: underneath the deck!
:
: This will DEFINITELY be the place to be in
: Las Vegas on New Year's Eve.

: Just saw this short video on an ESPN
: website.
: Nice to see how well calculated and
: engineered this whole jump is (for sure,
: lots of money involved!).
:
: However, no matter how rehearsed this stunt
: is, still an extremely dangerous jump. As
: if you didn't know already, Maddo has got
: serious balls!
