I don’t think the survivors of 9/11 or the Holocaust would appreciate the trivialization.
And as far as worshipping Evel, I don’t think so. I mean, yes, you have a point, he did terrible things – that’s what Gene said when he closed out the funeral. That he ‘Evel Knieveled’ many people. http://jumpforjesus.net/video.htm
If you listened to what Gene said at Evel’s funeral – Evel tried to make it right. The Bible says if you won’t forgive others neither will God forgive you.
So you content that his profession of faith in Jesus Christ was not genuine? And you know this how? We are forgiven by God not because we’re good but because God’s good. The thief who turned to Jesus, while being crucified for a life spent violating the rights of others, was told by the Savior in that moment, “this day shall you be with me in paradise.” You either believe it or you don’t. God’s forgiveness is not just for the good but also for the vile. It’s really all about the Blood of Jesus Christ, not about how bad we are, you and me and even Evel.
If you or I were as famous as Evel many people would know much more about our bad behavior (unless you never have had any). After his passing you said some nice things about him & didn’t mention the bad – that was decent of you. Now that he is gone, can we not let the man rest in peace?

: Why do people dredge up 9/11?
:
: Why do they dredge up the dates when Charles
: Manson did crimes?
:
: Why do they dredge up John F. Kennedy's
: assassination date?
:
: Why do they dredge up the date of Pearl
: Harbor?
:
: Is Evel Knievel granted some kind of license
: to have two of his cohorts hold a guy down
: so he can break the guy's arms with a
: baseball bat, yet not be remembered for that
: criminal act of violence? The Constitution
: says we have freedom of speech, but Knievel
: denied Saltman that right.
:
: Is Evel Knievel granted some kind of license
: to beat the hell out of his wife, then go to
: a strip club, and the rest of us are
: supposed to just keep our mouths shut? His
: wife is somebody's daughter. His wife is
: somebody's sister. Am I expected to just
: brush all that aside and fall at his feet,
: worshiping the ground he walks on?
:
: Is Knievel and all of his friends and fans
: some kind of crime family where we have to
: stay quiet about his crimes?
:
: His publicity stunt at the Crystal Cathedral
: didn't fool me, and I'm sure it didn't fool
: God. Evel Knievel told lies right there,
: where he was supposedly coming clean. Real
: convincing.
:
: Did people go into a code of silence after
: Hitler died? Is Knievel so special that
: nobody can discuss anything he did in his
: life such as kidnapping, burglary, theft,
: assault, battery, and woman-beating?
:
: I dredged it up because it's noteworthy.
: Other sources dredge it up from time to
: time, do you ask them about it? His
: publicity material didn't influence the way
: I look at him. Anybody who beats women,
: burglarizes, kidnaps, steals, gangs up on
: people and beats them with a baseball bat is
: a punk as far as I'm concerned. I won't
: worship them or even like them. I won't
: associate with them. I swear, it's amazing
: how people will still worship somebody who
: is such a criminal. I wonder: if he beat up
: one of these people's little sister, would
: they still worship the ground he walks on?

: On this date in 1977, Evel Knievel and two
