APRIL 5-It was a fantastic opening afternoon for the 2008 racing season at the Mottville Speedway!
Weather in the 60's after a long, hard bitter winter was most welcome!
The roar of the engines came to life at Mottville with some very exciting racing!
18 cars and karts were on hand!
In the first event of the season Brandon Remsing won the MTC Dash over Arthur Brazee, John Miller and James Brooks.
In the first Kart heat of the season Charles Pomeroy, sporting a bright green kart, won the heat over Tim Laflor and young Dillon Dane!
The 2nd Kart heat went to Marshall Pebler over Jacob Hamilton and Jeff Hamilton.
IN the MTC second heat it was local hero John MIller picking up a popular win over Brazee and Remsing.
In the Kart consi heat it was Jeff Hamilton taking the win over Mark Pebler and Thompson.
The MTC consi heat had Brazee taking the win over Remsing and Scott Hagaman.
After a brief intermission the features began and all 4 were exciting!
In the MTC A the first leader had his car go up in smoke with a blown engine!
Then MIller had the front end lock up on his car on the front stretch, forcing a caution flag!
In the end Brazee took the win over Hagaman, Remsing and Caleb Woods.
Marshall Pebler won the Kart A feature over Thompson, Mark PEbler, Pomeroy and Lafler.
The MTC B saw Remsing lead the first half of the race when suddenly in turns 3 and 4 his right front wheel went sailing into the air-over the tree tops and landed in the woods! In 30 years of watching racing at Mottville I have never seen a tire go that high! Hagaman than took the win over Woods.
The final event of the afternoon was the Kart B.
Jeff Hamilton took the early lead before his engine blew and he scraped the wall!
Several other karts experienced mechanical woes but Pomeroy came home with the win followed by Laflor, young Dillon Dane and Zachary Winger!
Brazee picked up $50 for the A feature in and Marshall Pebler $40 for the Kart win.
Hagman took home $20 for the MTC B and POmeroy $20 for the Kart B.
The Kart pay-off was exactly as advertised elsewhere on this web site but the MTC were actually paid more than we advertise!
Despite this we had one extremely immature individual who needs a strong course in anger management! He will not be allowed back to the Mottville Speedway in 2008!
The pay-off is elsewhere on this web site and we plan on following it.
This is the 18th year of current management for the Mottville Speedway. While other tracks have changed management over and over during those 18 years and some have closed we are still operating!
We never will make a great profit but at the same time we are not going to lose money either! We must make some to keep the track maintenance going!
Like most drivers we work at the track for the fun of it-not the profit!
We pay only one staff person and the rest are all volunteers!
Speaking of volunteers we have Jerry Bellaire doing the flagging, Richard Allbee and Vickie Bellaire running the track safety truck, Richie Allbee cleaning the grounds, Lacy Hosek runs the concession stand and Jduith Holden sells teh pit passes, tickets and photos.
Their help is much appreciated!
