A thread to privacy indeed exists: it's that if you enter your e-mail address when posting on this message board, it'll be made public, indexed by search engines, and you will start receiving lots of spam. The Oxford Times article quoted this site's founder as being a "website designer" but I'm guessing they got it wrong?
I was assaulted at random once on the Cowley Road in broad daylight. CCTV might've been useful in this case. And I can't see how closed circuit cameras pose a threat to "privacy". I know it's a cliché, but the innocent have nothing to hide...
