It seems that home CCTV doesn't necessarily lead to lower home insurance thank goodness:
"Alison Palmer, a household underwriting consultant with Norwich Union, said there is insufficient evidence as to whether CCTV systems actually deter criminals. Consequently, when calculating insurance premiums, the insurer does not take CCTV into account."

Compare this response with that of Home Security Action, one of the suppliers of home systems:
"A simple Home CCTV system can markedly reduce the risk of crime against your home and family."
I'm sure the cctv industry would love people to beleive that it's a way of bringing down home insurance and that may be why Maplins sales have gone up by 70% this year!
