Having seen the FOI that the Oxford Mail/Oxford Times used it is clear that the newspaper massaged the statistics to create their CCTV success story.
The following crimes (amongst others) went up over the period the newspaper claimed cctv had reduced crime:
- Possession of firearms
- Racially aggravated criminal damage to a vehicle
- Theft from a vehicle
- Theft or unauthorised taking of a bicycle
- Shoplifting
- Affray
- Administering a substance with intent
