Lets dissect your statement there for a minute..
1st, would it bother you if you were at the big match and you were seen on national television?? Probably not. And there was no consent. What is the difference between that and being seen on a camera not committing crime? I feel I have the right, as someone with years of experience in the industry to argue against your comments.
2nd. Big brother does not live in a concrete bunker. Your "big brother" figure is usually a guy called Bob who makes sure the system is working. Most CCTV in the UK is used reactively. Your "watched and surveilled and photographed and spied on" pictures are often never replayed and are finally overwritten. Why would people want to see nothing happening? Unless of course you were up to no good. Then damn right, you should be paranoid, right??
3rd. Your civil libery gives you the right to your opinion. CCTV does not take that away. And all of you, read 1984 rather than quoting the bits you have heard of. Unless all our PC's have a camera inside that watches us at home.. Oh hang on a minute, thats a webcam. I didnt want that... Oh hang on a minute, I did so that I can see my mates and do on line dating....
