Concord, NC ~ Oh, Man ... The time I've been waiting for is here, it's just seven days left until the UARA-STARS Late Model Stock Car Series drops the green flag on the Whitley Truck Equipment 150 at Concord Motorsport Park in Concord, NC.
It's certainly the time a lot of us have been waiting for, but with just six days until I begin making the trip down to Concord Motorsport Park for the weekend's festivities to begin for the UARA-STARS and man I guess now I'm feeling the crunch. I'm sure not everyone knows, but I will let you in on what it is exactly that Kim and I do in conjunction with the UARA-STARS Series. First I personally am the "Official Photographer" for the budding young series, plus we also design, print and sell the series magazine known as the Star City Racing News UARA Magazine. This year we'll be taking on a new venture, doing videos for the series and I've got to tell you this one has been tough ... not exactly knowing anything about doing videos.
Anyways ... Can you believe it's seven days and counting ... heck by the time some of you read this it'll be six or maybe even five days remaining until the biggest season opener. We've been working hard around here preparing for this race, but next weekend isn't the start of the season for the RACE22.com crew. Technically our season got jump started last Sunday with the UARA/Concord Open House, but we'll really get the season started tonight as we head down to Concord Motorsport Park for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series season opener.
It's kinda strange for me to be at the same race track for three straight weeks ... heck it makes me feel like I'm back in the promoting business and I know I don't want to go back there. But my schedule for the first five weeks of racing is a little strange anyways with these three straight weeks at Concord and then two Saturdays back to back at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, VA. The first week up there will be the NASCAR season opener for the track and then we'll bring in the best racers in the region with the UARA-STARS on April 12th.
Back to Concord and the UARA ... I'm really excited about the season opening event and from all the things I've been hearing and all the guys I've been hearing going to try and compete in the season opener from Davin Scites to all the rest of the JR Motorsports entries and maybe even a few surprises from the past that hopefully we'll be able to let you in on before Friday.
Also I want to let you guys in on whats going to be coming up in the next few days of coverage. We're going to try and get some good footage of the racing action tonight at Concord Motorsport Park and put some clips up this week, but that depends on the camera woman and how good she can get with only a few minutes practice. Hopefully we'll see some of her footage on this week. Also we'll wrap up the weekend behind with all the racing action on the track this weekend including a little Super Late Model action down at Hickory Motor Speedway with the Easter Bunny 150 for the PASS South Series.
Plus we'll have up to the minute previews of the lastest info on the UARA-STARS ... When we have news we'll get it online and put it in your face. In the last two weeks we've broke the two biggest stories in Late Model Stock Car racing ... first with the story that Friendship Motor Speedway was going back to dirt racing and then this past week, we were able to break the story first that West Virginian, Davin Scites has sign on to drive for JR Motorsports this season and we were the first to let you in on Tommy Lemons, Jr. huge crash at Motor Mile this past week ... so you know where to stay tuned right here to RACE22.com
