Danvill, VA ~ Last year, at this time, brothers Brian and Burt Frisselle were at the beginning of a rolercoaster ride.
The two were competing full time in the Grand Am Rolex sports car series and nearly full time in Late Model Stock Cars at Dublin, Virginia's Motor Mile Speedway. The two ran for Stacy Compton's Turn One Racing at Motor Mile, and despite their lack of experience in the heavier cars, gave good accounts of themselves. Older brother Burt had a best qualifying effort of third with a best finish of sixth. Brian had a top time trial effort of fourth with a very solid third place run as his personal race best.
"We had a great time" stated Brian from the brother's home in Colorado, Tuesday night. "Turn One Racing gave us an excellent opportunity to drive in a very competitive series with much heavier cars." He concluded that down the road the two would welcome a chance to drive in a series like ARCA or NASCAR's Craftsman Truck Series. "Certainly The Cup series is in our minds as well" .
Burt countered with the downside of such a schedule. " It was rough on some weekends, having to fly back and forth between Virginia and Grand Am dates at venues like Iowa with races on the same weekend." That huge amount of frequent flyer miles was among the factors that convinced both to concentrate 100% on the Rolex Series in 2008.
The two return to Virginia this weekend to compete in the Rolex event at Virginia International Raceway. Brian will be a co-driver in the #61 Riley Ford while Burt will share driving duties in the #47 Doran Ford. Don't be surprised to see them at the front of the pack.
