Schiffy doesn't have to be top 4 in the region to make it. He has to be one of the top 4 individual runners after they take out runners from the teams that qualify. That means he can be anywhere in the top 25 and still have a chance of making it. Last year the 4th individual qualifier from the Mid-Atlantic region was Kyle Murray from St. Josheph's who finished 13th overall. As much as you say you know about running then you should know that most Cross Country times are completely irrelevant so lets looks at Kyle Murray's track PR's (4:13 mile - 8:26 3K - and 14:39 5K). I think after what we saw Schiffy do last year on the track and how dominate he's been this Cross Country season that, yes, he is the caliber of runner that can make it to Nationals with an individual qualifying spot.
