Wow, what a meet, and wow, what a AAA guys race. Brandon Doughty was the better man on Saturday folks. He proved that with his win. However, and this is not meant to be prejudice in any way to Brandon because he is a fantastic runner with a great attitude and the best kick in the state, but Cody Pellicionni deserves his due. I mean, c'mon guys, the kid's won three major out-of-state meets this year with a PR almost below 15:30. It wasn't fair that he was sick yesterday because if he wasn't, we would've seen one hell of a finish on Chris Parsons Track.
Also congrats to Midland on a great team effort. They've shown steady improvement all year, and it certainly paid dividends in the end.
Last, but certainly not least, from one gracious senior, thank you to the entire Cabell Midland HS crew for making these past 4 state meets the absolute 4 best meets I've ever been to. We've been to huge meets in Ohio where kids have run close to sub-15 for a 5k, but nothing, not even Footlocker South, compares to the kind of show Midland puts on for us. Thanks for some of the best memories of my life and all the great races. Even buckets upon buckets of rain and mud couldn't stop this from being a fantastic show. Thanks to everyone who helped put it on.
P.S. To W- When you're trying to find a hot shower after a race like that, everyone's name is either sir or ma'am.
