The following was passed along to me as the highlights of the Cross Country Coaches' Committee Meeting.
While watches are allowed in Cross Country races, GPS watches are prohibited.
The afternoon coaches meeting at the State Cross Country Meet should be moved from 12:30 to 12:15.
There will be a rules powerpoint posted online to help clarify things for all coaches. I assume this will be on the WVSSAC website.
The proposed Regional Sites for 2012 are as follows:
Class AAA Region I - John Marshall
Class AAA Region II - Elkins
Class AAA Region III - Camp Virgil Tate
Class AAA Region IV - Hurricane
Class A-AA Region I - St. Marys
Class A-AA Region II - Frankfort
Class A-AA Region III - PikeView
Class A-AA Region IV - Camp Virgil Tate
There was a proposal to change the qualifying method for advancing teams. The new qualifying method would be as follows:
2-5 Complete Teams - 2 advance
6-9 Complete Teams - 3 advance
10 or more Complete Teams - 4 advance
And just as a reminder, these are just the recommendations from the Coaches' Committee, they have to be approved by the WVSSAC. There is no guarantee that any of these items will become rule.
