The pros/cons of a realignment.
+/- Wheeling Jesuit is getting left out in the cold. They are the only school with a decent running program that doesn't have a football team and inevitably won't be invited into the "new and improved" conference. I highly doubt that WJU will stay in the WVIAC if this realignment occurs. I imagine that they'll try and join another conference or go DIII. Since this doesn't take place until fall 2013 it is hard to tell.
+/- Alderson-Broaddus use to be a powerhouse in XC. The school is under some new management in the athletic department and had decided to pick up football next year. Hard to tell but I would think they'd apply to join the new conference too even though they aren't on the list to charter.
+/- An Indoor Track and Field Championship is now a VERY real possibility. If the purpose of the new conference is to increase exposure and competition wouldn't it make sense that an indoor championship needs to be incorporated? The issue is obviously the facility. However, if they are looking to include outside schools then lets keep our fingers crossed that at least one of the new schools will have the goods. Anyone think that they might even tap on Marshall's shoulder to use the indoor facility that is *ahem* underway.
+/- Looks like the outdoor T&F Championships 2013 will be hosted by the University of Charleston. Other than WJU they are the only school that has a functioning steeple pit that I am aware of. I don't know how they will do javelin but I guess they have +1 year to figure that out.
+/- I know that XC and T&F aren't revenue sports but I would really like to see the schools joining this new conference get programs... or at least take them seriously (Shepard, West Virginia State University, Fairmont State, and West Liberty)
+/- Sucks for those headed to (or currently at) OVU. They were a couple of seasons away from being contenders (at least in my opinion) in the WVIAC. Rumor was they were picking up track too??
Read the article and post your thought for what this means for the colleges and running here in WV. -- http://wvmetronews.com/news.cfm?func=displayfullstory&storyid=53329
