I usually stick to my facebook and twitter walls for this kind of stuff, seeing as my real fans/friends are on there...but seeing as unfortunately I have come up as a topic of conversation again..I figured why not show my face on the "runners be damned" message board.
I would like to start off by saying Thank You to all the people who wished me luck going into this last race of mine. Especially to the 2 jokers who actually drove all the way to Eugene for this one event. Words can't describe what that kind of support means to me and really all of us as distance runners. We aren't main stream so the small support we do get is amazing.
And then there is the Anti - support...To most of you I'd also like to say...Thank You! Honestly, I prob don't know most of you very well and can't draw a clear judgement on you as a person but at 28 yrs of age I welcome the negative, as all it does is fuel me in other ways... Unfortunately not in a positive way, but it still gets the job done. With no one telling you that you aren't worth a damn how would you prove anyone wrong, right?
To the name calling and mock rivalries: Am I a douche? Obviously someone thinks so..but then I kind of have the same view of that person for calling me out on a message board...so that kinda puts us at even..and I'm ok with that. It's probably for a reason im not quite sure would make sense, so why try to make sense of it? To the Rivalries! I love it
Me vs Kevin Castille!! Me vs Burcham!! Here is the honest truth...Im touched that I get to be the one that everyone throws their "best" at. Its actually quite flattering. My true feelings: Kevin is amazing...I prob wont beable to walk at 41. Burcham is unreal...He is the most talented runner to come out of this state and I respect him for his brute toughness...He may lose but he doesn't go down lightly..and that's what I love seeing in runners. It's the key component most are missing...So good luck on breaking 4 next yr Jacob. Healthy- you'll make history. And maybe 1 day we can meet for my first ever Huntington visit for a local 5k. It may be the most important race we ever run...EVER
Now to my big apology...
I am Sorry for one thing....For apparently sticking in this state's craw for so long as an elite distance runner..it has apparently given many of you headaches, ulcers, and prob explosive diarrhea...But I have a horrible announcement.....I'm not going anywhere just yet
!
Special thanks to Woody and his family..and to all the amazing people I meet along my travels. Like Forest Gump once said.... These shoes can take me anywhere! And I plan on letting them .
Happy Running WV
