I better analogy would be how college football was several years back. You can go 11-0 in regular season, lose your bowl game, but still have enough points to finish as the number one ranked team. Thats NSA rankings.
You get certain points for showing up, placing high and winning tournaments. We were able to win a couple of NSA events, place high in a few, and the 2nd place worlds and 5th place Supers are worth more than your normal qualifier.
Someone asked me today "what if you jsut went to 10 straight NSA events, and went 0-2 or 1-2, would you have a lot of points?"
Yes and no. If it was a qualifier and you won, it is 50 points. If you win the Supers, its 1,000 points, and lots of areas in between (regionals, state, worlds, etc).
Besides custom plaques for every player, there really is nothing except the prestige of knowing you are the top ranked team in the country for the highest level of the sport in NSA.
