Two weeks ago Sheltra Motorsports announced that TED joined the veteran ARCA RE/MAX Series (ARS) team as a mentor-driver coach for Patrick Sheltra a Indiantown, Florida native and driver of the #60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge Charger team beginning with the Wolverine Power Systems 200 at Berlin (Mi) Raceway.
After practicing in the top-10 and qualifying 10th in the 200 lap event, Sheltra kept himself in the top 10 but was unable to fend off an extremely loose racecar which resulted in a 14 place finish.
Sheltra On Working With Driver Coach TED:
"I have to thank TED for his efforts. I really enjoyed working with him and I learned alot. He's a great addition to the team and I'm looking forward to having him around the rest of the year.
"He's been super awesome to work with. He was quiet last weekend at Berlin, but I was prepared for that. He taught me a lot of things not only about the track and my driving style but about the car as well. He called me the Monday following the race and we talked about what we can do to enhance my performance. I'm looking forward to his guidance for Pocono Raceway, a track he's had some success at too in the past."
Last weekend TED made the trip to Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, PA for the Pennsylvania ARCA 200.
Sheltra, "I think having TED on our side is going to pay off. He has been up front and honest with everything from myself to our team and everything in between. His experience and sucess at Pocono should be an asset to us."
Qualifying was cancelled due to the elements and the team started from the 10th position based on team owners points.
During the last quarter of the Pocono event TED boasted Sheltras' confidence which resulted in faster lap times. Sheltra thanked TED for his extra efforts. "TED was really pointing out somethings to me that kept making my car better and better," said Sheltra.
An untimely caution in the race kept the Sheltra team off the lead lap which resulted in a 11th place finish.
Sheltra Motorsports will participate in a private test session at New Jersey Motorsports Park on Tuesday, August 4 in preparation for the New Jersey ARCA 150 set for Sunday, September 13.
The next race event is August 23 at the Illinois State Fairground for the Allen Crowe 100.
