Well, all my boasting about how I thought I crossed the invisible line where aloifolias seem to live and die in South Jersey when we moved to this location is in doubt. I've lost three of them this winter. My three larger ones are still going strong, but have more full sun than the 3 that bought the farm this past winter. I discoverd how bad the last of the 3 to go was yesterday. Completely soft right at the soil line, but the upper part is still growing. I'll cut it down this afternoon, trim off the rotted part of the stem and start over with a smaller plant. That magical line of life or death for aloifolia is near me, I just don't know where. Maybe it's in my own yard as I have a couple of monster sized ones on one side of the house and death on the other.
