Hello Don, Tim, Randy and other "pollinators"!
I do not know how long pollen can be stored yet. I did try using some two year old pollen last year and it didn't work for my Yucca angustissima ssp. kanabensis, and others which I tried it on. The pollen had been stored in old film canisters at room temperature.
Last year did I also get pollen from a friend in Holland, and I did store the pollen in the refrigerator, the pollen looked very good and there were plenty of it, but it were not able to pollinate any flowers at all.
I did also use pollen from other friends, and pollen which I collected my self, all this were stored in the small film canisters, and it was OK after 2½ month. I still have a little left of pollen from last year, so I will try using it this year. Later in the season, I will let you know if the pollen has been useful or not.
I will however not get so many Yuccas in bloom this year, last year we had more than 50 blooming rosettes, so many Yuccas need to regrow new rosettes a year or two. My wife Elena one day said with a smile, "OHH, then we will be seeing you in the evenings this summer, you will not have be a yucca-moth, every night! ;o)".
Happy Yucca pollination to everyone.
Greetings
Benny
