First Yucca to bloom in my garden night before last. Well ahead of what passes for filamentosa in this area.
Haven't had flowers in a few years, but recognized the orange beetles that began to accumulate a few days past. With the flowering I brought out the big gun insecticide. Bayer Rose and Flower. Oops a Yucca moth fluttered down. Haven't seen Yucca set seed here in about 30 years. More sprays, more neatness removing stalks, or maybe they're all one pass along clone?
No other Yuccas in sight but the bugs know more than I do. Maybe will spray Sevin on the outside of the flowers and stalks.
Local nursery and estate garden (Newbury Perennial Gardens) shows several distinct Yucca on it's website. Will have to see if I might get some pollen from their garden plants.
Best to all, Photo when (if) the rain stops
