17 YEARS of TROPICAL AND DESERT PLANTS

We had a low temperature of -13F (-25C) this winter but most Yuccas look OK. Yucca gloriosa 'Highway 421' form from Don looks OK so far. Yucca 'constricta x filamentosa' X 'reverchonii-thompsoniana' looks flawless. Yucca 'constricta x filamentosa' X 'Bright Edge x glauca Clone #1809A' (pollen from Benny J) looks great too. Yucca elata ssp verdiensis looks fine. Yucca 'aloifolia x stricta' X arkansana Yucca rupicola X 'filamentosa x elata' Another form of Yucca 'constricta x filamentosa' X 'reverchonii-thompsoniana'. These are beauties.

Hi Tim, your Yuccas look great, I think you had some stronger winter times than we had here. The winter in Germany was not really a challenge. The minimum temperature in my garden was -11°C for one night and we only had a little bit of snow. I didn't protect my several Trachycarpus the first time. My Yucca 'aloifolia x stricta' X arkansana has more problems here in Germany, it already disappeared once but came back from the roots. I enjoy your hybrids. Hopefully you can create some more of these beauties. Regards Eckhard

Hi Eckhard, Winter was warm here too but we had a few short duration cold blasts. Spring is almost here.

Hi Tim, good to hear that spring arrived. Here in Germany it's still a mix between winter and spring. But the plants outside look better than after the winter of last year. Eckhard

We had the same winter here Tim but less extreme (14f lowest) . We had a near record year for rainfall also which left some ugly plants. This is a pic of a short leaved treculeana. That plant in the right background is a trunked Nolina that I got from you as a plug several years ago. Wish they made pups!

Hi Don Nice looking Y treculeanas. I like the short leaf look. The Nolina looks like a beauty. I hope she blooms for you 😎

Hello Don, what a beauty, unfortunately it's not possible to grow Y. treculeana outside all year long in Germany. Maybe you can create some hardy hybrids Regards Eckhard

no luck making hybrids for me so far. Have also tried other agavacea including agave and manfreda.
