17 YEARS of TROPICAL AND DESERT PLANTS
late blooming gloriosa

An offset to my variegated gloriosa has bloomed. This is very late for here and the mother plant showing behind the bloom bloomed in July. Am noticing how much smaller the stroe bought gloriosa flowers are compared to the wild ones. Both the concava leaved and ones going by aloifolia arcuata have blooms almost twice the size of the commercial cultivar in the pic.

Hi Don, nice to see the blooming gloriosa variegata. Mine is dying slowly due to wet weather. What about the new hybrid you created? Did the seeds ripen? Eckhard

I have ripe seed of the hybrid and of a couple of other local natives. If you'll give me explicit instructions for shipping I'll send you some. We are expecting a hurricane early next week here in coastal NC but I could probably mail Monday. Believe we were emailing so will look there for your response.
