Warren Jones, a much beloved brother, husband, father and grandfather passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023 from Covid. Warren was born on February 26, 1942 at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama, where his Father was an Air Force pilot in World War II. Warren received all of his secondary education in the Forest Public School system where he was a proud member of the Senior Class of 1960. Members of the Class of 1960 who are still alive are ; Skipper Warren, Tony Henderson, Joe Paul Hunt, Jimmy Gibbs, Bill Fortenberry, David Doty, Tommy Buntin, Mickey Hawkins and George Gray Townsend. And Loren Ormond, Jackie Johnson, Lucy Lee, Sarah Ruth Mills, Frances McCormick, Brenda Kaye Harris and Elaine Noblin. After graduating from Forest High School, Warren went to Millsaps College in Jackson , Mississippi where he majored in Chemistry. He graduated from Millsaps with Honors in 1964. It was then off to the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill to pursue a Ph.D in Chemistry which he received in 1968. Warren then joined the National Institute of Health in Washington, D.C. as a senior chemist. Warren retired from the NIH in 2012. Warren was married to his wife Beverly for 54 years They had two daughters Courtney, 52, of Old Forge, Pennsylvania and Catherine, 50, of Seattle, Washington. Each of his daughters had a son and a daughter. Warren was an extraordinary big brother to me. He steered me in the way I should go in life through his own personal experiences. And Warren was never wrong in his encouragement or advice. I was very lucky to call him my big brother. Warren will be greatly missed. See you on the other side.
