Frank was born in Meridian, MS to Rev. Frank E. Dement, Jr and Mamie Brothers Dement. He graduated from Pascagoula High School, Millsaps College, and then from the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in 1965. Frank married Maxine Roberts in 1966 and was blessed to celebrate fifty-eight years of marriage. He served in the U.S. Navy, with the first six months of training in Pensacola, FL. He was stationed at Cherry Point, NC Marine Base for two and a half years during Vietnam. After the Navy, he completed a pediatric residency at UMMC in Jackson, MS. He then moved to Hattiesburg, MS to join Dr. George Kimbrough in the practice of pediatrics in 1971. After the death of Dr. Kimbrough, Dr. Kimble Love joined his practice for eighteen years at the Children’s Clinic, which eventually joined with Hattiesburg Clinic and other partners to follow. He enjoyed caring for children overseas and volunteered to go on several medical mission trips with different organizations. During his practice, he was actively involved with The American Medical Association; Mississippi State Medical Association; the American Academy of Pediatrics; and was a Diplomat of the American Board of Pediatrics. In 2003, he retired and took pleasure traveling with family and friends. He was talented in many ways and found creating stained glass artwork to be a relaxing hobby. He also spent time at his fish camp in Bay St. Louis and learned to fish and crab. The camp sadly was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Frank was a lifelong Methodist and served his Lord by being involved in many church activities in various capacities. He sang in the choir thirty plus years and was a member of a quartet formed by Ed Walker, Main Street United Methodist’s Church Musical Director. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Frank E.
