Fortunately, no severe injuries were found from the fall itself; however, the doctors saw something that led them to suspect cancer. After further investigations led to scans and biopsies, he was diagnosed with lung cancer with possible spread to his spine. The plan is to transfer Rhett from Ocean Springs Hospital to USA Hospital in Mobile where he will undergo surgery to stabilize his spine. Following that procedure, he will begin chemo to treat lungs. He has three lesions on his spine which can be treated with radiation. Rhett is comfortable with this treatment plan and anxious to get started.
