A celebration of life will be held for Rev. David Sydney Doty at 11 a.m., Monday, April 6, 2026, at First Baptist Church Brookhaven. Visitation will start at 10 a.m., prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Eastern Cemetery in Forest, MS at 2:30 p.m. on Monday.
Rev. David Sydney Doty, 83, of Brookhaven, MS, passed away on March 31, 2026, at his residence. He was born on September 22, 1942, to Sydney Campbell Doty and Myrtice Dearman Doty.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Sydney Campbell Doty and Myrtice Dearman Doty; his wife, Cynthia Louise Doty; and his son, David Campbell Doty. He is survived by his sister, Susan Doty Adams, and a host of cousins.
David grew up in Forest, MS. He was always a very talented musician and an outstanding student. He was the lead drummer in the Forest High School All Superior Band and an editor for the yearbook. He was a member of The Cavalier Quartet who attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas as ambassador of the University. Receiving a full scholarship, he continued his education at Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He received a master’s degree in church music. David served several churches during his career. Among them, First Baptist Church Texarkana, Texas, First Baptist Church Austin, Texas, Park Hill Baptist Church North Little Rock, Arkansas, First Baptist Church Brookhaven, MS, and Central Baptist Church Brookhaven, MS.
David loved his Lord, his family, and all the members of the churches he served.
