Thank you, Robert, for sharing this bit of background information:
“Most of us will not remember Betty Ann but it might be nice for some of our older members to see this. Betty Ann's father was the Presbyterian pastor in Forest on the 1950s. Betty Ann went to Belhaven and wound up marrying a young Naval aviator, Ken Seawright. He crashed on takeoff attempt once and was never found. She then married Billy Hays and they lived out their lives in Jackson. “
Betty Anne Mounger Seawright Hays went to be with the Lord on April 25, 2026. She was born in the manse in Forest, and grew up in Carthage. A Carthage High valedictorian and Belhaven College graduate, she taught school, served in Christian education, and taught Sunday School for more than 50 years. Betty Anne loved family meals, missions, music, dance, travel, and welcoming others to her table. She is survived by her children, Ken Seawright and Susan Hays Carson; grandchildren, Ryan Seawright and Hays Carson; and extended family. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., with the funeral service at 11 :30 a.m., on Thursday, April 30, at First Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church Mission Fund or French Camp Academy.
