Old Photos from Scott County

These 2 pictures were donated to the Scott County Genealogical & Historical Society's photo collection. They are suppose to be in Scott County, the first one has to be a school but what school? Does anyone recognize anyone, the building or know anything about a girl band? I do see one boy with them. The girl band dresses look like they would date around the early 1900's. These are so interesting, hope some of you have some ideas/thoughts about them that you will share.

I cropped just the top of the door area and applied a few filters in Photoshop to try to bring out any detail by increasing contrast and sharpness. There is a lot of digital noise in the image that almost looked like lettering until I found the same patterns elsewhere in the photo.

Good job, JT! I still don’t see anything that looks like letters but I do love seeing the worn wood up close like that. Of course I might be assuming that some of the character is actually visual noise...lol.

Isn't there something written over the door. I thought I might identify the word but will wait for others so as not to influence.

If you see anything written over THAT door, your eyes are better than mine! // BTW, I wonder by what process that too pic was made. It is backward, unless that's how they taught the girls to play - which I doubt.

Shawna these are great. I do hope someone can help identify the people and places. Perhaps the photos can be shared with older relatives of our readers for clues. A girl band should spark a memory or two. Thx.

If you will enlarge the area above the door I think you might see the letter H and the last letter looks like d. Maybe I am imagining it but I think the letters in between might spell Homewood. I am not saying this for sure just that it could be a possibility. Just trying to help Shawna!
