After so much Joy during Nabs Weekend, I think we all have recently felt the anxiety of reality. Such extremes. I’m so thankful to all of you who have expressed precisely WHY our Nabs Weekend has become so important to you. I’m still receiving very touching notes. I want those of you who stepped up to help to know how much you were appreciated by everyone, especially by Kel and me.
John Roby. Reservations and chairs for dinner. Tom Burns also helped John deliver/return to Bank of Forest who loaned them to us. Thank you.
Scott Palmer. Not only communications and logistics for all of the events, but especially the delivery, set-up and removal of the dinner tables which are loaned to us by both Community Bank and George Taylor. Thank you.
Janice Alford Burt. Decorations help on Thurs pm in addition to working with caterer Jane Tadlock. Thank you!
THE SESSIONS KIDS! Lu Ann, Glenda, decor,cleaning...at BOTH the Gallery and KK plus providing water/cokes for Nabs Party Mike Gould, Mickey Sessions...ICE!...a precious commodity. Thank you!
Meg, Mike, Lynda Sue...reception table at dinner; tough job which you handled beautifully. Thank you.
Dana....Name Tags! This takes a lot of time and patience as our reservations kept changing! Thank you!
Larry Rigby...several different tasks...from clean up to greeting, to communicating. Thank you!
David Gaddis....sound system....I didn’t even have to worry about setting it up or taking it down. It just magically appeared when needed. Thank you.
Glinda Smith..decorating/clean up help, KK key guardian, 6 pm candle lighter (and not a minute before!) This was important because I had no idea how much battery life left after “lighting” them for the last four Nabs dinners! Thank you.
Helen....my sounding board and help in whatever needed to be done. Thank you.
Henry G...arrangements for a group dinner upstairs at Rib Cage Sat 6 pm...open invitation....all he asked for was a head count. Thank you.
Gary Risher...emcee for Friday night (even though he made me stand in a folding chair!) Gary you were great and handled our little surprise recognition very well. Thank you.
Larry Henderson...for standing by to catch me in case I fell off that folding chair...lol. I especially thank you for no injuries!
Stan Douglas...helped load, unload, carry heavy stuff...and illegally move the yellow ribbon and cones blocking the streets so we could get the heavily loaded car from Gallery to KK Friday night. Thank you.
David and Joyce Carr...for adding one more highlight to the weekend on Sat night. “DC’s Brews and Blues!” Very generous of you and the band was great. Thank you.
The Oak...usually closed on Saturdays...opened to offer lunch to Nabs Party Goers. Thank you.
Jimmy Shaw....always willing to share his growing collection of memorabilia in his museum..”Remember When”. Thank you.
And to Mayor Nancy who works very hard behind the scenes as both the Mayor of Forest and as a Bearcat to welcome us with such special words on Saturday. Both she and Patsy Nicholson of the Downtown Association worked out the details to see that there was excellent Friday Night entertainment in the park. The Trey Jones Luckenbach Band was spectacular! Thank you!
As always, Jane Tadlock and Barbara Gatewood are so wonderful to work with. Both seem to be able to anticipate and plan efficiently for events such as this. Thank you.
Kelly....basically everything..but mostly your patience as you recognize when I’m in “Nabs Mode.” Thank you.
This is not a complete list. I think almost everyone pitched in if they saw a need. Some of the best memories are made that way. We are so blessed to continue to experience this unique bond, and I thank each one of you for that.
Kaye, The one person you left out was YOU!! None of this would happen without all of your efforts. You and Kelly cannot be thanked enough for ALL YOU BOTH DO to make Nabs weekend a reality. It's become a wonderful event that so many of us look forward to and could not happen without you and Kel. So, THANK YOU!!!!!
Always Great to work with the Sheriff, Just glad she did not have to get her gun Just show her badge. Kaye is easy to work for and we have the same goal for the reunion.
Scott is totally correct Kaye, you ARE the driving force behind the Nabs and Coke Party. As Gomer Pyle would say thank ya thank ya thank ya to you, poor ole Kel and all the rest for making it happen and a job WELL DONE.
Kaye and Kelly are the driving force behind our precious get togethers. I want to tell you how much I enjoy seeing people that we grew up with and share some great memories of that special time growing up in a small southern town. It's like a family reunion except more fun because it's with other Bearcats! Thank you so much for making it happen!! We love you both!!
Exactly what Lou said. It's like a big ole family reunion without all of the family squabbles. As usual, it's one of the highlights of the summer for me and is the first thing I put on my summer calendar (except for the year I ended up having to leave early to play for a wedding)!
